LECTURES

Week 1 / 6.2.2024

In the first week, the teacher introduced us to the entire module, and also introduced us to exercises, electronic portfolios and projects.
We have to prepare a presentation on our first week with our group too, one of the first topics we have to prepare is to find out the different types of infographics and we are going to use a free online infographic tool to reframe a poorly structured piece of information  infographic poster.

Group Task (FLIP Presentation)

FLIP 1: Types Of Infographics

Individual Task (Re-design Infographic Poster)
I started by doing some research on infographic posters on Pinterest. I found a few posters and analyzed them.I found a poster that I thought was problematic and reworked it

Infographic Poster from Pinterest

I think its structure is a little too crowded and I want to change it to have a sense of space and add a timeline element.  I think the color of it jumps out a bit and I'm going to use color to unify it.

EXERCISES

Exercise 1 - Quantify & Visualize Data

In the first exercise we need to quantify (count) the items of our choice (buttons/LEGO bricks/coins/MNM) and arrange the objects into a presentable layout or diagram.

I chose Lego and I will divide it according to its spiral angle.

(studs) classification

Final Quantify & Visualise Data (Exercise 1)

I arranged the entire large graphics into a spiral and used spiral angles to classify them. Each color line represents several spiral angles.

Exercise 2

2. L.A.T.C.H
In week 2, we're breifed about L.A.T.C.H which is a method of information organization that consist of these principles:

- Location
- Alphabet
- Time
- Category
- Hierarchy

Location/Alphabet/Time/Category/Hierarchy
Organize a group of information into a visual poster that combines and utilizes the LATCH principles (Minimum 4)
These are a few of the suggested compiled data you can use or, you can pick any topic you want:
Pokedex
FFXIV Bestiary
Dinosaur
Requirements: Size resolution: 1240 × 1750 pixels or 2048 × 2048 pixels

Use the digital photo editing/illustration software available to assemble the Pokemon into a LATCH infographic poster. You can re-use back the images of the monsters but do create the rest of your visuals to complete the poster
After I researched visual references, I sketched

Sketches

I want to classify them according to their different skills and attributes.

Sketches 1

Sketches 2

Sketches 3

Sketches 4

I ultimately want to go with Sketch One and Sketch Two.

When I used the fourth sketch to digitize, I felt halfway that it was not quite what I imagined, so I decided to abandon the fourth sketch and continue to digitize the first sketch.

I got feedback and revised the poster.

FEEDBACKS

Week 1 / Exercise 1

You can arrange it by rotation angle, if you want to do it the other way around you have to explain it.

Week 2 / Exercise 2

Visuals are important, but so is information. You can take the first or last sketch to digitize

REFLECTION
I find this task a lot of fun. After completing this task, I have a basic understanding of information design. Exercise 1 This assignment was a great experience for me to understand the basics of infographics.
For task 2, this helped me a lot with my workouts. Overall, I really enjoyed doing this assignment and was able to learn the basics of infographics in the easiest way possible.
