Project 4 - Animation: Self-Titled

For project 4, we were given the task of making a digital collage with the theme “Self-titled".  We are required to reflect our ideas into an experimental video by using Adobe Photoshop & Adobe After Effects.

IDEA DEVELOPMENT

1. Write a biography about yourself

 

INTRO

My name is Nie Weiqiu, I'm from China and I decided to come here to study because I want to see and experience different multiple cultures and languages

PARAGRAPH 1

I am a very introverted person, very free loving, I like to embrace with nature and I enjoy my time alone

PARAGRAPH 2

I have many hobbies such as catching up on TV shows, playing games, reading novels and singing. Some of them also have something to do with my studies, and while reading novels I can learn something related to my major.

I also really like small animals and enjoy going into nature, they make me relax


SUMMARY

I can find my own way to relax in the face of stress, and I can temporarily forget my worries and relieve my stress in the face of nature.



2. Write a statement about your work

 

INTRO

This is a painting of nature and me together, expressing my desire to blend in with nature and enjoy the freedom of being in nature

PARAGRAPH 1

I prefer nature, I feel it is full of energy and vitality, when the wind blows to me I feel it is free

PARAGRAPH 2

I like butterflies because they are beautiful and have wings that allow them to fly freely, and I like the smell of flowers because they make me especially relaxed.

SUMMARY

I love being in nature because it allows me to escape from stress



Design Direction

Sketches
I started out with two sketches.



I decided to use the second sketch for the creation and adjusted it


I created two puzzles, and I finally chose the second one because it has more space and better reflects the feeling of freedom than the first one

ARTIST STATEMENT: 


I put myself together with plants, I divided myself into two, one big and one small to form a contrast and make the whole picture harmonious, the gap in the middle shows the plants, reflecting the sense of space, making the picture not too crowded, expressing that I am integrated with nature, feeling the life nature gives us, listening to the heartbeat of nature, feeling the breath of nature. Enjoying the freedom of nature and relaxing my stress.

Enjoying Nature

This video expresses my enjoyment of the joy that nature brings me. When you devote yourself to nature, nature will also call your heart with its incomparable charm. The rhythm of the music and the fluttering butterflies express the endless life that nature gives. Finally, I hope that we can protect nature together and keep it so beautiful!
